Workshop Description and Objectives Description:
Integrative attachment disorder repair and trauma treatment with children, adolescents, and families is a therapeutic approach that combines principles from attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and family systems therapy. The ethical considerations in this approach are multifaceted, focusing on the protection, empowerment, and holistic healing of young clients while respecting the family dynamics involved.
Objectives:
- Label and describe the components of attachment disorders and attachment styles.
- Understand the key ethical issues of family therapy including client autonomy and consent, trauma sensitivity and minimizing harm, cultural sensitivity and family dynamics, confidentiality and boundaries in family therapy, balancing power, and advocacy for the child through play therapy techniques.
- Name the components of play therapy in the context of attachment repair.
- Learn how using evidence-based assessment tools increases ethical practice.
- Learn the types of play therapies utilized in family systems work
- Learn and explore the impact of Attachment on Emotional Regulation in Children and Adolescents
- Recognize and address attachment-related challenges and triggers and how trauma impacts attachment.
- Learn how to increase and strengthen parent-child relationships through play therapy and the ethics of play therapy
